Greenville School Board Incumbents Secure Re-Election

Greenville— On November 5, 2024, voters in Greenville demonstrated their support for education leadership as all four incumbents running for the Greenville County School Board successfully defended their seats during the municipal elections. The elections took place amidst a mix of clouds and sunshine in the morning, with high temperatures reaching 74°F, before giving way to cloudy skies and a predicted 80% chance of rain in the evening.

Election Results

Carolyn Styles, the chairwoman of the board, achieved a commanding victory over challenger Lisa Bracewell, receiving 67.7% of the vote. This win solidifies Styles’ position in District 17, highlighting her extensive experience, including a prior role as a principal of an acclaimed school.

Scott Cline triumphed in the District 19 election, which was notably crowded with candidates. Cline secured 36.78% of the votes to excel in a race that included former teacher Amanda Stone and landscaper Dan Healy, who received 30.28% and 17.96%, respectively. Cline will replace long-serving member Debi Bush, who retired after 28 years on the board.

Angie Mosley retained her seat by earning 59.99% of the votes against challenger Steve Whaley, despite being significantly outspent. Mosley emphasized her commitment to addressing school issues such as special education, while Whaley campaigned on a platform focused on conservative principles.

Michelle Goodwin-Calwile also managed to fend off two challengers effectively, obtaining 51.58% of the vote in District 25, where retired administrator Greg Cantrell received 26.98% of the votes. In contrast, activist Jack Logan brought in 20.5% but could not keep pace.

Sarah Dulin successfully retained her seat in District 27, winning approximately 55.87% of the votes in a narrowly contested election against volunteer Missy Marsh.
