Greenville Restaurant Vets Return to Their Roots with New Venture, “Take Care”

Greenville, SC – Chef Alex George and Jen Anderson, familiar names in the Greenville culinary scene, have announced their newest venture, a restaurant named ‘Take Care.’ The concept will take root at 1233 Pendleton St. in the Village of West Greenville, earmarked to open its doors in early 2025.

From Pop-up to Permanent

The idea for ‘Take Care’ initially took form as a Tuesday night pop-up that has been operating at Sum Bar since March of this year. Alex George, a former co-owner of the well-known Golden Brown & Delicious, and Anderson, previously Chef de Cuisine, aim to elevate Greenville’s dining scene with their combined expertise. They have planned a comprehensive space design for the restaurant, offering a unique blend of dining, lounging, and bar spaces within the establishment.

Creating a Dining Experience

At the heart of their menu, George and Anderson aim to serve the food they want to eat, offering a broad range in prices, achieving comfort food for some and fine dining for others. Pulling from their past restaurant experiences, they plan to maintain a dynamic menu that adapts based on the freshest local ingredients. A unique feature that will be carried over from the successful pop-up model is the ‘family meal,’ offered free of charge for its recipients.

Designing an Atmosphere

More than simply pleasing the palate, George and Anderson aim to make their guests feel at home by recreating a living room setting in ‘Take Care.’ With Anderson’s background in art and interior design and George’s expertise in graphic design, mid-century modern elements that conjure NYC’s dining glamour along with 1950s and ’60s simplicity will dominate the space’s ambiance.

Coming Full Circle in West Greenville

This new venture signifies a poignant return for the duo. The community of West Greenville, where the duo owned and operated the original Golden Brown & Delicious, welcomes them back with open arms. This matured project is an extension of their past venture, blended with their evolved culinary insights, focusing on elevated and approachable dishes, and undivided attention to hospitality.

A Nod to Community and Collaboration

‘Take Care’ pays homage to their communal roots, with George and Anderson eager to reciprocate the support they have received from local businesses and the community. They shared gratitude toward other businesses that helped them in the early stages of the pop-up process. The duo is excited to take ‘Take Care’ from pop-up dream to culinary reality, enhancing the Greenville dining scene with their unique concept and sincere dedication to old-fashioned southern hospitality.
