Greenville Restaurant Rallies Behind Employee in His Fight Against Cancer

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Portofino’s staff is joining together to support their head bartender, Mark Wright, in his ongoing battle with cancer. Wright, who has been living with cancer for the past seven years, is scheduled to have one of his kidneys removed in the coming weeks. To aid in his recovery and support him during his time away from work, Portofino’s is organizing a “Party with A Purpose” to raise funds for medical bills and to show their solidarity with Wright and his family.

“I just look at it as part of my life. Hate to say it, it’s almost normal for me at this point but I just take one day at a time,” said Wright, reflecting on his journey with cancer. Despite the challenges he has faced, Wright remains hopeful and determined to continue living his life to the fullest.

Portofino’s, a beloved restaurant located on Orchard Park Drive by Haywood Mall, has always prided itself on being more than just an establishment – it is a tight-knit family. Wright, who has been a valued member of the Portofino’s team for several years, is not just an employee but a friend and a cherished part of the Portofino’s family.

“He means more than just an employee. He’s a friend, he’s a part of the family, so we want to do whatever we can to help him out,” said Brett Maynard, owner of Portofino’s.

The “Party with A Purpose” will take place in the parking lot of Portofino’s on June 9th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature a food truck, live music, and multiple raffles. Tickets can be purchased in person at Portofino’s or online through their website. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards supporting Mark and his family during this challenging time.

Portofino’s hopes that the community will come out in full force to show their support for Mark and his fight against cancer. By coming together and rallying behind their cherished employee, the restaurant aims to raise not only funds but also awareness about the impact of cancer on individuals and their families.

Cancer affects millions of people around the world, and support from the community is crucial in providing the necessary resources and strength for individuals like Mark Wright to face this fight head on. By organizing the “Party with A Purpose,” Portofino’s hopes to make a meaningful contribution to Mark’s recovery and embody the spirit of unity and compassion that defines their establishment.

“We want Mark to know that he is not alone in this battle. We are here for him, and we will do whatever we can to support him through this difficult time,” said Maynard.

The news of Portofino’s “Party with A Purpose” has been met with an outpouring of support from the local community. Many individuals and businesses have reached out to offer their contributions and assistance in making the event a success. The restaurant is grateful for the overwhelming response and hopes that it will translate into a significant impact on Mark’s journey towards recovery.

Portofino’s is known not only for its delicious Italian cuisine but also for its commitment to giving back to the community. The restaurant frequently hosts fundraisers and charity events, supporting various causes and organizations throughout the year. Their dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of their employees and community members is at the heart of their mission.

As Mark Wright prepares for his kidney surgery and subsequent recovery, he is filled with gratitude for the support he has received from his Portofino’s family, as well as the wider community. With their unwavering support and love, Mark knows that he is not alone in his fight against cancer, and he is determined to emerge stronger than ever.

The “Party with A Purpose” serves as a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of unity in overcoming life’s challenges. The event will not only provide financial assistance to Mark and his family but also create a space for the community to come together, celebrate, and show their support for one another.

To purchase tickets or make a donation, visit Portofino’s in person or access their website.

As the date of the “Party with A Purpose” approaches, the excitement and anticipation in the air are palpable. The community eagerly awaits the event, ready to stand beside Mark Wright, his Portofino’s family, and the countless other individuals fighting their own battles against cancer.
