Greenville Unites for Recovery Efforts Following Storm Helene

Greenville Comes Together to Heal After Helene

As the dust settles in Greenville after the recent storm, Helene, the community is rallying for recovery efforts. If you’re looking to lend a helping hand, there are numerous volunteer opportunities popping up around the area. While this list isn’t exhaustive, it serves as a great starting point to get involved and support our local organizations and neighbors during this challenging time.

Join the Conestee Nature Preserve Cleanup

First on the list is the Conestee Nature Preserve, which boasts 13 miles of beautiful trails woven through water and trees. Unfortunately, the preserve faced some damage due to the storm. However, the park staff is already hard at work on cleanup efforts and is seeking additional volunteers.
Mark your calendar for Friday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. if you want to contribute. You can sign up online to join the team of dedicated volunteers. For more information, feel free to reach out via phone at 864-277-2004 or drop an email to info@conesteepreserve.org.

Trail Cleanup with Spartanburg Area Conservancy

Next up is the Spartanburg Area Conservancy, which is hosting its first trail cleanup day at the Cottonwood Trail on Saturday, October 5. This event is designed to be family-friendly, welcoming all ages, and encouraging participation from everyone—no heavy lifting is required! Gather your family or friends and meet at the Fernwood Pool between 9 a.m. and noon to lend a hand in restoring the trails. For inquiries, you can contact SPACE at 864-948-0000 or email info@spartanburgconservation.org.

Donation Drive with United Way of Greenville County

The United Way of Greenville County is stepping up its game by continuing to accept various donations through Saturday, October 5. Items such as canned goods, diapers, and hygiene products are urgently needed. Donating is easy; just stop by their location at 105 Edinburgh Court from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring what you can to help those in dire need. You can reach United Way at 864-467-3333 or info@unitedwaygc.org.

Fill the Penske for Greenville!

If you’re out and about on Saturday morning, stop by the City of Greenville’s “Fill the Penske for Greenville” donation drive. This special event is in partnership with United Way and will take place from 8 a.m. to noon during the TD Saturday Market. Swing by and drop off any items you can give and help ensure our community members have what they need to recover.

Help United Ministries Collect Supplies

Lastly, today and tomorrow, United Ministries is set to collect items specifically for families suffering damage from the storm. You can drop off donations between 8 a.m. and noon at 606 Pendleton Street. Every little bit helps, and your contribution can make a significant difference in someone’s life. For more information, United Ministries can be reached at 864-232-6463 or via email at info@united-ministries.org.

Let’s Get Involved!

So, whether you prefer to volunteer on the ground or donate supplies, there are plenty of ways to pitch in and make Greenville a better place in the wake of Helene. Remember, this is a community-wide effort—every act of kindness counts, no matter the size! Your support is invaluable in helping neighbors in need. If you know of additional opportunities or organizations helping with relief efforts, please don’t hesitate to reach out and share.
