Greenville High School Sports Report: Top Performers April 15-21

This past week showcased some outstanding athletic performances from high school teams in the Upstate area of South Carolina. From lacrosse to baseball, soccer, track and field, and softball, student-athletes brought their A-game, leaving spectators in awe. Here are some of the standout performers from the past week:

Boys Lacrosse

Christian Carbonell from Greenville High School led his team to victory with four goals and an assist against Eastside in the Class AAAA Upper State semifinals. Mauldin High School’s Harrison Finney showcased exceptional skills with two goals and three assists in the Class AAAAA Upper State semifinals. Both teams are on their way to championship games, thanks to these stellar performances.

Baseball Standouts

Evan Allen from Wren pitched seven shutout innings against Belton-Honea Path with nine strikeouts, securing a 4-0 victory. Cole Bellinger from Greer pitched a two-hit shutout against Riverside, leading his team to a 1-0 win. These players displayed remarkable talent on the mound.

Girls Soccer and Track & Field

Smith Darby from J.L. Mann scored three goals in a 4-1 victory against Daniel in girls’ soccer. Ayiana Chalmers from Hillcrest dominated the track and field events, winning the long jump, triple jump, and securing the second spot in the high jump. These young female athletes proved their prowess in their respective sports.

Softball Heroes

Maliyah Campbell from Woodmont struck out 16 batters and allowed only one hit in a 9-0 win against T.L. Hanna. Kinsley Kay from Belton-Honea Path also had a standout performance, pitching a stellar game against Wren, allowing only one run and securing a 2-1 victory. These talented softball players showcased their pitching skills admirably.

Boys Golf Excellence

Peyton Lawter from Chesnee shot 68 to win medalist honors at the Spartanburg County tournament. Hugh Lemonds from Spartanburg helped the Vikings win the team title at the same tournament with a solid performance.

These outstanding performances from high school athletes in the Upstate area highlight the dedication, skill, and determination of these young competitors. As they continue to excel in their respective sports, fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming games and competitions to see more remarkable feats on the field, track, and course.
