Festival Parade Celebration

Greenville Gets Ready for a Spooktacular Celebration!

Mark your calendars, Greenville! Sara Collins Elementary is gearing up for its 60th annual Freaky Friday Festival, and it’s bound to be a fantastic event for everyone. Set for October 18, the festival will run from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the school located at 1200 Parkins Mill Road. And believe us, you won’t want to miss it!

A Fun-Filled Family Affair

This year’s Freaky Friday Festival is promising a lineup of activities that will delight both children and parents alike. From exciting games and inflatable play zones to a silent auction with amazing items up for grabs, there’s something for everyone! And don’t forget your appetite, because ten local vendors will be on-site serving up delicious treats, including mouthwatering pizza from Local Pie Pizza Co. and scrumptious cookies from Chocolate Menace.

With over 1,000 community members expected to attend, this year’s festival is shaping up to be one for the books. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, have fun, and socialize with friends and neighbors.

A Community Reunited

Suzanne Caudle, co-chair of the festival and a dedicated parent at Sara Collins Elementary, expressed her excitement about the event. “We are thrilled to bring the community together, especially after the uncertainty that followed Hurricane Helene in the Upstate,” Caudle stated. “Our kids really need a joyous occasion right now. They’ve faced some challenges, and we want to give them a memorable experience.”

Indeed, the festival is not just about fun; it’s also a loving reminder that communities can support one another during tough times. “Children are intuitive,” Caudle added. “They can sense the uncertainties around them, and we want them to celebrate something positive.”

Supporting Education

This annual festival is not only a blast but serves an important purpose as well. Organized by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), it is the school’s only fundraiser. In previous years, the festival has raised around $90,000, which goes directly toward enhancing educational resources at Sara Collins Elementary.

From purchasing specialty chairs for students to upgrading playground equipment and supplying classroom resources, every dollar raised makes a difference. This year, the PTA has introduced a donor campaign dubbed the Hundred Club to encourage families to sponsor the festival and help reach fundraising goals.

Exciting Auctions and Raffles

One of the highlights of the festival will be the silent auction. Here you can bid on a wide range of items, including the chance to take home a puppy, free braces, and restaurant vouchers! There will also be two exciting raffles: one where participants can win the latest Apple products and another featuring a unique holiday stay at The Westin Poinsett.

“The funds we raise are important, but at the end of the day, it’s really about bringing us all together,” said co-chair Katie Wolff. “We’re putting on a fun event where families, kids, and community members can celebrate and enjoy each other’s company.”

Join the Fun!

Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to enjoy an afternoon filled with fun and community spirit at Sara Collins Elementary. It’s an event designed with families in mind, where everyone can unwind and connect with their neighbors.

So gather your family, head out to the festival, and let’s make this year’s Freaky Friday something to remember! For all the latest updates, be sure to check out the school’s PTA on Instagram and Facebook. We can’t wait to see you there!
