Greenville Prepares for Second Annual Faith & Justice Forum Focusing on Unity Through the Arts

Greenville Gears Up for a Day of Unity and Creativity

It’s happening right in the heart of Greenville! Village Engage, a unique social enterprise under the umbrella of Mill Village Ministries, is rolling out the red carpet for its second annual Faith & Justice Forum on October 16. This much-anticipated event will take place at the Peace Center, spinning a tapestry of hope, creativity, and community engagement.

Event Details

The festivities are set to kick off at 10 a.m. and will go until 2 p.m.. This year’s theme is all about “Finding Common Ground through the Arts,” promoting a spirit of unity amidst the chaos and noise of our daily lives.

A Taste of Togetherness

One of the highlights of the day is sure to be a delightful lunch catered by chef Stephanie Bolden and her team from My Neighbor’s Voice. Just imagine the warm aromas and delicious dishes designed to fill not just your stomach but also your soul! Food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and this lunch promises to be a feast of flavors as well as connections.

Music & Poetry: The Heart of the Event

Music is often said to be the universal language, and attendees will be treated to a variety of performances that perfectly embody this idea. Local high school students from the Greenville area will showcase their own original music, demonstrating just how talent and passion can draw us closer. And that’s not all—national recording artist Kyshona Armstrong will grace the stage, adding her soulful sounds to the lineup. It’s a chance to appreciate and support emerging local talents while enjoying the artistry of established musicians.

But the creative experiences don’t stop with music. Attendees will also have an opportunity to dive into a hands-on poetry writing experience led by local poets Moody Black and Melissa Whiteford St. Clair. Writing can be deeply personal yet communal, and this activity is designed to inspire attendees to express their thoughts and feelings in a welcoming environment. So bring your thoughts, and leave with words that resonate!

A Message of Hope

At the heart of this forum is a simple yet profound message of unity. According to Alecia Brewster, the program director at Village Engage, “This year’s event is for everyone who is tired of the noise and divisiveness in our world.” That’s a sentiment that many can relate to as we navigate through a landscape filled with distractions and disagreements. Where better to step back, breathe, and connect than in a shared space filled with art and creativity?

Everyone is Welcome!

The forum is open to everyone—whether you’re a seasoned art lover, a budding poet, a passionate musician, or just someone who wants to experience a day of joy and connection. It’s a chance to step away from our screens, drop our everyday distractions, and truly engage with our neighbors and community members. After all, art is a fantastic way to find common ground, opening doors to conversations and connections that can lead to understanding and empathy.
