Greenville Drive Promote Powerful Juneteenth Gestures

For its Juneteenth game, the Greenville Drive made powerful gestures by customizing game day for the holiday. Every Saturday home game, the Greenville Drive close down Field Street for a two-hour pregame party, which they call Saturdays on the District.

Families get to enjoy food, face painting, a magician, the big slide, and games. This particular Saturday also called for a special celebration.

For Juneteenth, the Drive invited black-owned businesses as vendors. One vendor mentioned how the gesture symbolizes growth and positive change.

The team also wore Negro League jerseys from the Greenville Black Spinners in the early 1900s, showing unity and support for the community.

Embracing the past for a better future, the team, fans, and players came together to celebrate Juneteenth and recognize the importance of unity and understanding history.

The Drive plans to continue their tribute by wearing their Black Spinners jerseys for future games and events, including Jackie Robinson Day.
