Greenville Drive pays homage to first Black baseball team

The Greenville Drive honored the Greenville Black Spinners, the first team in the area made up of all Black baseball players. Drive players honored the team by wearing Black Spinners uniforms. The team started playing back in the 1920′s. The evening also included special performances, including a recognition for Jackie Robinson and inclusion initiatives throughout the community. Ahead of the game, the day began with the King Legacy HBCU College Fair. This is the second year the HBCU college fair was held with Greenville Drive.

Drive Players Pay Tribute

As the sun set over Greenville, South Carolina, the Greenville Drive baseball team took to the field in a special tribute to the Greenville Black Spinners, a pioneering team of all Black baseball players. The Drive players donned uniforms inspired by the Black Spinners, honoring the legacy of the team that made history in the 1920s.
