GREER, S.C. – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded Friday afternoon following reports of shots fired in the area.
Officials said the situation began when crews responded to a residence near N Rutherford Road for a welfare check. According to officials, fire officials arrived at the scene and thought a man fired gunshots, so law enforcement responded to help.
Officials explained that law enforcement got to the scene and learned that the man who owned the residence had broken a window with a pipe, which is what caused fire officials to think shots had been fired. Deputies confirmed that the man only damaged his own property and wasn’t taken into custody following the incident.
