Greenville County Schools Welcomes New Principals for 2024-25 School Year
Greenville, SC – As the new school year approaches, Greenville County Schools (GCS) has announced a number of new principals who will lead various schools for the 2024-25 academic year. With the first day of school scheduled for August 8, parents and guardians are encouraged to register kindergarten, first-grade, and new students before the start date.
Leadership Changes Across the District
The new principals stepping into their roles come with extensive experience and a dedication to enhancing educational outcomes in their respective schools:
- Tim Scipio will lead West Greenville School, bringing experience from his previous role as assistant principal at Woodruff High School.
- Stephanie Smith, a former athletic director, will take charge at Fountain Inn High School, where she has made significant contributions to community engagement.
- Nurit’ Sexton joins Bethel Elementary after a successful stint at Woodland Elementary, known for her work with students facing behavioral challenges.
- Dylan Hudson, currently principal at Seneca High, will now oversee Greenville High Academy, having achieved strong graduation rates in his previous role.
- At Reedy Laurel Elementary, Matthew Critell will transition from Bethel Elementary, where he has previously served with distinction.
- Edgar Henson is set to lead Greenville Middle after serving in several administrative roles that facilitated his development in educational leadership.

- Jordan Hudson takes on the role at East North Street Elementary, having served as an assistant principal at various schools.
- Dawn Hooker, currently at East North Street Academy, will lead Alexander Elementary, where she has excelled in school improvement initiatives.
- Jennifer Couch will head Lakeview Middle after five impactful years at Woodmont Middle, where she enhanced academic performance.
- Melissa Patterson steps up at Woodmont High, bringing operational expertise and a track record of improving student achievement.
- Todd Stafford transitions from Greer High to Eastside High School, where he aims to implement effective instructional and operational strategies.
- April Roberts continues as the principal for the Child Development Centers, focusing on foundational literacy and early education.
- Amy Kern, formerly the principal of Mitchell Road Elementary, will now lead Tigerville Elementary, known for her success in previous roles.
