Greenville County Schools Assessing Damage for School Return

Greenville County Schools Evaluates Damage for School Return

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Greenville County Schools is currently assessing damage at various schools in the district to determine if students, staff, and faculty can return to school on Monday. The decision comes after recent severe weather made a significant impact in the area.

In a statement released by district officials, it was noted that updates will be provided, allowing parents and students to plan accordingly. The school district also announced that all school activities have been canceled from Friday evening through Sunday, September 29, to focus on evaluating the damage and ensuring safety.

The district’s initiative to assess the extent of the storm’s impact reflects ongoing concerns for the well-being of the school community. Parents and students are advised to stay informed as officials work diligently to provide updates.

The weather has had far-reaching effects, with reports of significant power outages and various closures across the Upstate. As of Friday, over 770,000 customers were without power due to the storm, prompting efforts from local authorities and utility companies to restore service as quickly as possible.

Additionally, Anderson County reported five storm-related deaths as the community copes with the aftermath of the recent severe weather. Officials are working to ensure public safety and support in this challenging time.

As the weekend approaches, residents are urged to stay safe and keep an eye on the latest updates regarding school operations and community resources. The school district is committed to transparency and will continue to communicate important developments as they arise.

For now, families are encouraged to prepare for any potential changes in the school schedule as results from the damage assessment become available early next week.
