Greenville County School Board Approves New School for Northwest Middle
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – A significant transformation is on the horizon for Northwest Middle School following a recent decision by the Greenville County School Board. During a session on Tuesday night, the board officially approved a plan to replace the current school with a brand new facility.
New Campus Location
The board has decided to purchase approximately 30 acres of land for the new school site. This land is situated off Highway 25, near Belvue Road, which will provide an accessible and modern location for students and staff.
History of the Old Building
The existing Northwest Middle School, located on Geer Highway, has a long history, having been built in 1973 with several renovations over the years. However, the district feels that a complete replacement is necessary to better serve its community and enhance the learning environment.
Serving the Student Body
Currently, Northwest Middle School has an enrollment of over 800 students for this academic year, and the district aims to ensure that the new facility will accommodate the needs of these students effectively. This replacement is part of a larger strategy detailed in the district’s long-range capital improvement plan.
Looking Ahead
As the Greenville County School District moves forward with this project, community members and parents can expect updates on the progress as plans develop. The new campus is anticipated to provide a much-needed upgrade to the educational facilities in the area.
