Greenville County High Schools Shine in US News & World Report’s SC Rankings

Six high schools in Greenville County, South Carolina, have clinched spots among the top 25 best high schools in the state, according to the latest rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. These rankings, based on the “2024-2025 Best Public High Schools in South Carolina” list, highlight the academic excellence and exceptional performance of these schools in various key areas.

Greenville County Schools in the Top 25

The following Greenville County high schools secured positions in the top 25 rankings:

  • No. 10: Wade Hampton High School
  • No. 13: Greenville Senior High School Academy
  • No. 19: Riverside High School
  • No. 20: Eastside High School
  • No. 21: Mauldin High School
  • No. 23: J.L. Mann High School

Ranking Criteria

The rankings were determined by analyzing key factors such as college readiness, state assessment proficiency, and underserved student performance. U.S. News & World Report utilized the “Best High Schools Methodology,” focusing on six crucial areas to assess nearly 17,660 schools nationwide:

  • College Readiness (30%): Proportions of 12th graders taking and earning qualifying scores on AP or IB exams
  • State Assessment Proficiency (20%): Aggregated scores on state assessments
  • State Assessment Performance (20%): Comparison of aggregated scores with U.S. News’ expectations
  • Underserved Student Performance (10%): Assessment scores of underserved students
  • College Curriculum Breadth (10%): Proportions of students taking and earning qualifying scores on AP and IB exams in multiple areas
  • Graduation Rate (10%): Proportion of ninth graders graduating in four years
