Former Hotel in Greenville Transformed into Tech-Smart Apartments

Greenville’s Former Hotel Transformed into Tech-Smart Apartments

In a forward-thinking move that typifies the modern era’s demand for innovative living options, one former hotel building in Greenville, South Carolina has undergone a significant transformation. Previously operating as a Country Inn & Suites, the hotel, nestled among auto dealerships at 2756 Laurenn Road, now begins a new life as Flathouse Studios. An innovative project masterminded by Millrock Commercial, a Salt Lake City-based company, the development focuses on integrating cutting-edge technology to enhance and revolutionize residential living.

Introduction of Modern Living Spaces

The revamped site now hosts 112 studio apartments and five one-bedroom units, creatively designed to fit within the confines of the former hotel rooms. This impressive feat has been made possible due to ingenious technology that introduces rising beds and moving walls to the Upstate setting. Equipped with stovetops and microwaves but without ovens, the apartments are small with 308 square feet of space but efficiently laid out to maximize functionality. The refrigerators provided are full-sized, ensuring residents have ample storage for their grocery needs.

Ori Design Studio takes center stage

About half of the apartments are furnished with state-of-the-art furniture from the influential Ori Design Studio, based in Brooklyn, N.Y. At the press of a button, users can elevate their queen-sized beds to the ceiling, and with an additional command, a work desk can be rolled away to reveal a walk-in closet behind. This initiative makes Flathouse Studios the first Ori-furnished apartment building in South Carolina.

Highlighting pricing details to prospective tenants, leases for the Ori-equipped studios begin at $1,300 per month, while unfurnished studios start at $1,000 per month. The one-bedroom apartments have an asking price starting from $1,400 per month.

Creating an Interactive Community

Jeff Lemmon, project consultant for Millrock Commercial, expressed that the development aims to foster interaction and community among residents. By providing a balance of privacy and social interaction, Flathouse offers a living experience suitable for recent college graduates seeking an active community reminiscent of their university days.

The apartments incorporate communal coworking spaces, complete with open room desks and enclosed offices for more secluded tasks as needed. Furthermore, the site’s amenities are set to include a pickleball court close to the pool. Supplementary facilities include a podcast studio, community kitchen, high-speed internet, a gaming lounge, and even a golf swing simulator.

Aiding Greenville’s Progression

Lemmon emphasized that this revitalization project contributes significantly to the town and represents a committed investment to rejuvenating an aging hotel building for contemporary use.
