Greenville Gears Up for New Senior Housing Community
Exciting news for Greenville residents! A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the Southpointe Senior Residences, a fresh new community designed specifically for those aged 55 and older. With 90 units set aside for low- and moderate-income seniors, this is a significant step forward for affordable housing in the area.
This welcoming new apartment complex will be conveniently located near the Woodruff Road corridor in Simpsonville. Pre-leasing for these affordable units is expected to kick off later this month, so keep an eye out if you know any seasoned citizens who might just be interested!
Creating a Better Tomorrow Together
The project came to fruition thanks to a fantastic collaboration from a number of partners, including the Greenville Housing Fund and Lowcountry Housing Communities. Bryan Brown, President and CEO of the Greenville Housing Fund, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are so grateful for our partnerships with the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority and the Greenville Housing Authority. These collaborations have made this affordable housing development a reality for our lowest-income seniors.”
Lowcountry Housing Communities may be a new name in the Greenville area, but they come with 20 years of experience in creating affordable senior-living options across South Carolina and Georgia. So, you know they mean business!
Supporting the Community
The financing for this exciting new community is being provided through the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority, thanks to its low-income housing tax credit program. Bryan Brown had praise for these efforts too, noting, “We are incredibly thankful for the tax credit financing and the efforts SC Housing is making to increase affordable housing opportunities in the rapidly growing Upstate.”
For those living in the Southpointe Senior Residences, endless conveniences await! The three-story building will feature a mix of one-bedroom/one-bath and two-bedroom/two-bath apartments along with ample parking, a business center equipped with computers, an exercise facility, and easy access to shopping. And let’s not forget about the Greenlink Transit connection, making it easier for residents to navigate the community and beyond!
Mark your calendars, as this lively new community is set to reside at 30 Southpointe Drive. Did you know that since its inception six years ago, the Greenville Housing Foundation has invested over $19 million into our local housing landscape? This effort has resulted in exciting developments like this, helping to create or preserve around 1,550 housing units for those in need. Impressive, right?
A Vibrant Upstate
In yet another uplifting move, the DRÄXLMAIER Group, a key player in the automotive industry located in Duncan, has donated $2,500 to support youth and adult hockey programs at the Asheville Inline Hockey League. The funds will help replace equipment lost when Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on their facilities. This generous contribution will give local hockey players, both young and old, a chance to get back on the ice!
Caring for Young Patients
Greenville, with all its developments and supportive community efforts, is making strides forward! There’s never been a better time to celebrate the growth and opportunities that are sprouting up in our beloved city. Stay tuned for what’s next!
