Gingerbread Baking Fun Invites Greenville Community to Showcase Creativity in Festive Exhibit

Gingerbread Baking Fun in Greenville!

Hey there, Greenville! It’s that cozy time of year again when our creativity in the kitchen can shine bright, and what could be more festive than the 2024 Gingerbread Exhibit? From December 4th to 25th, the Residence Inn and Springhill Suites in downtown Greenville will transform into a gingerbread wonderland, showcasing some of the most creative and mouth-watering displays crafted by our very own bakers!

Are You Ready, Bakers?

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just love to whip up some icing and spice during the holidays, the Gingerbread Exhibit is calling on 50 talented individuals to participate. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little friendly competition when cash prizes and hotel packages are on the line? It’s a chance to take your gingerbread creations to the next level and maybe score some extra holiday cheer!

Grand prizes in each category will score you a cool $350, while the Media’s Choice Winner will take home $250. It’s important to note that judging will be based on overall appearance, creativity, difficulty, and precision. So, don’t hold back! Get those creative juices flowing.

How to Get Involved

Thinking of entering? Here’s what you need to know:

  • Application Deadline: Submit your application by October 28th.
  • Approval Notifications: Bakers will be notified by November 8th.
  • Theme: Displays must be inspired by a holiday theme.
  • Structure Requirements: The frame of your creation must consist of at least 75% gingerbread.
  • Decor: Everything should be edible—except for lights, of course!
  • Size: Each entry can measure a maximum of 2’x2’x2’ on a board base.
  • Team Up: Participants can enter solo or in groups of 2–3.
  • Labeling: Make sure to attach a label with your name and the title of your masterpiece.

Let’s Hear It for the Fans!

The Gingerbread Exhibit isn’t just for bakers! Everyone in the community is invited to come by and cast their votes for their favorite creations. Last year’s fan favorites included delightful displays inspired by our beautiful region, such as 12 Days of Christmas in SC and the charming Candyland with Swamp Rabbit Café. It’s always heartwarming to see families come together and enjoy these sweet works of art!

With the holidays around the corner, this event is a fantastic way to connect with your community, meet new friends, and maybe even get some inspiration for your own holiday baking at home! So grab your mixing bowls and get ready to sprinkle some creativity into your gingerbread masterpieces.
