The council’s SmartARTS program placed 150 artists in 42 Greenville County Schools district schools to teach as part of the district’s arts-integrated curriculum. Since its inception in 2002, SmartARTS has funded more than 800 arts-integrated units for the district, totaling $2.1 million from grants from the U.S. Department of Education.
