Oh, it’s that time of year again! Greenville, South Carolina is getting ready to celebrate one of the biggest events of the year—the Fall for Greenville festival! After 43 successful years, this lively festival is back to fill downtown’s Main Street with the sweet sounds of music, the delightful scents of food, and the cheerful chatter of friends and families gathering together. The fun begins this Friday and continues all weekend long!

What to Expect

The excitement is palpable as preparations were already in full swing by Thursday. According to Veera Gaul, the board chair for the festival and a local business owner, it’s truly a “family friendly wonderful experience that is a taste of what Greenville has to offer.” And we couldn’t agree more! This year promises to be bigger and better, boasting over 60 different food vendors that will serve up a whopping 300 menu items. From savory treats to sweet delights, there’s something on the menu for every palate.

Music Galore!

Music lovers, rejoice! The festival features seven stages with more than 80 bands set to perform throughout the weekend. And guess what? All of this wonderful music is absolutely free! As Anna Catherine Miller, the tourism administrator for the City of Greenville, pointed out, “All of the music is free to enjoy so anyone can come downtown to enjoy that.” Fans are particularly excited to see local legend Mac Arnold hit the stage, which always promises an unforgettable experience.

A Flavorful Experience Awaits

Getting thirsty while you indulge in all that food? Fear not! Organizers have promised a fantastic selection of beverages, featuring over 50 beer taps and various wine vendors for those looking to kick back and relax. And of course, there will be plenty of popular non-alcoholic options available, including fan-favorite Pepsi products.

People from All Over

What’s even more exciting is that this year, the festival has attracted visitors from far and wide! This includes ticket sales from 27 different states and even the U.S. Virgin Islands! It’s clear that folks are eager to experience this amazing weekend filled with flavor and fun. “When it pops up usually group chats and friends start making plans,” said Dawson Kellett, a local resident anticipating the festivities.

Support for Hurricane Helene Victims

This year, the festival will also lend a helping hand. City leaders have announced that donations will be accepted at ticket booths for Hurricane Helene victims. They’re committed to ensuring that 100% of donations will go toward local efforts and rebuilding initiatives in western North Carolina. It’s a great way to enjoy the festivities while also giving back to those in need!

Get Involved

As always, the community atmosphere is a big draw for the festival, and local business owners like Veera Gaul are excited about the influx of visitors. “My store does really well Fall for Greenville weekend,” she shared, noting that last year’s crowd surpassed an impressive 200,000 people. With the festival running Friday through Sunday, it’s a great opportunity for locals and out-of-towners alike to explore the vibrant downtown area. While admission to the festival itself is free, there will be seven different locations set up to purchase tickets for food and drinks. Keep in mind that parking will be available for a small fee of $5 at any City of Greenville garage.

Lastly, for those that want to get even more involved, the festival is still looking for volunteers! Not only will volunteers receive a free t-shirt, but they’ll also get some taste tickets to sample some of the incredible food on offer.
