Greenville, South Carolina is buzzing this weekend with a wide range of activities that promise fun for everyone. The weather is looking just perfect with mainly sunny skies and a high of 72°F, making it a great time to get out and enjoy all that our lovely city has to offer. With gentle winds to keep things comfortable, it’s going to be a delightful time to explore local events.
One of the standout events this weekend is the SofarGVL Music for the Mountains Benefit, happening on October 13 at 4 p.m. at The Rutherford, located at 520 Rutherford Road. Tickets are priced at just $30, and they promise an unforgettable evening of live music.
After the disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene, many local musicians lost out on performance opportunities, including the much-anticipated Fall for Greenville festival. But fear not! SofarGVL and The Rutherford have come together to create a unique solution. This benefit is set to feature at least 10 artists and bands that were originally slated to perform. Not only will you enjoy a fantastic night of tunes, but you’ll also be helping those musicians who’ve been hit hard financially by the storm’s aftermath.
Extra efforts are being made too! A portion of funds raised will go to BelovedAsheville, a local organization dedicated to recovery efforts in Buncombe County. Guests can also look forward to delicious food from a food truck and a cash bar on site. Just a heads up, this event is for guests aged 21 and older, and free parking will be available on-site!
If you’re in the mood for something else, there are plenty of other great options:
Last but certainly not least, the much-anticipated & Juliet musical is making its way to the Peace Center! From October 15-20, audiences can dive into this comedic retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet story. Tickets range from $50 to $100, and guests will be treated to catchy pop anthems like “Since U Been Gone” and “Baby One More Time.” It’s a show that’s recommended for ages 8 and up, but do keep in mind it includes some adult language and other spectacles that might not be suitable for young ones.
As you plan your outings this weekend, don’t forget that patrons attending the Peace Center shows are encouraged to bring canned goods to help support local food pantries. It’s a lovely way to give back to the community while enjoying the vibrant arts scene here in Greenville.
So whether you’re in the mood for music, art, or a musical adventure, there’s something happening for everyone. Let’s enjoy what Greenville has to offer and support our local talent while we do it!
