Hey there, Greenville friends! We have some bittersweet news to share about a beloved local treasure. Cafe and Then Some, the quirky dinner theater that has been brightening our evenings since 1983, is planning to close its doors in November 2025. This cozy spot has been the perfect place for both laughter and good food, offering a wide range of original comedy in a welcoming atmosphere.
For over four decades, the Cafe has been a hub for local talent and comedy lovers alike. Founded by the dynamic duo Dot McJunkin and NormaJean (you might know them as Maureen and Susan), this unique establishment mixed delicious meals with the excitement of live performances, creating an experience like none other. It’s hard to believe the time has come to say farewell, but there’s still plenty to enjoy before the final curtain falls!
Currently, the show “White Trash Lotus” is running and bringing in the laughs until September 21st. If you haven’t experienced it yet, make sure you grab your tickets! After that, from September 26th, the Cafe will be featuring a wildly spontaneous show called “Unscripted.” As the name suggests, anything goes in this exhilarating performance that promises four weeks of unscripted fun! You never know what might happen when the actors take the stage without a script—how exciting is that?
As we move into late October, the Cafe will shift its focus toward the festive season with a special Christmas show. The holiday spirit paired with the Cafe’s unique comedic touch is sure to be a delightful experience! The shows run Thursday through Saturday, with dinner at 6:30 PM and the magic of performance kicking off at 8:00 PM.
Want to join in on the fun? Cafe and Then Some is located at 101 College Street in Downtown Greenville. If you’re excited to reserve your spot for an evening of laughter, you can easily make a reservation through their website or by calling 864.232.2287. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a meal and a show all in one funky little spot!
As we prepare for the inevitable closure of this local gem, it’s essential to celebrate all the joy and smiles it has brought to the community over the years. The talent that has graced its stage and the laughter that has echoed through its walls are irreplaceable. So, gather your friends and family, and let’s show our love and appreciation for Cafe and Then Some while we still can!
As we anticipate the end of an era, who knows what exciting new ventures might pop up in Greenville? The arts and entertainment scene is always buzzing with creativity, and while we’ll miss the Cafe dearly, we can also look forward to what the future holds for our beloved community. So stay tuned, keep exploring, and let’s make some more memories together in this wonderful city!
