Billy Reed Fletcher, 43, managed to escape from the detention center on June 20, prompting a search operation across state lines. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) had reason to believe he had fled to the Palmetto State.
Deputies revealed that SLED received a crucial tip regarding Fletcher’s whereabouts, which proved instrumental in his arrest. The fugitive was located and taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. on July 4 at 705 Sulphur Springs Road in Greenville.
Fletcher is now being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on a fugitive from justice warrant. Following standard procedures, he will soon be extradited back to Tennessee to face charges related to his escape.
The swift action taken by law enforcement agencies highlights the collaborative efforts in ensuring public safety and bringing fugitives to justice. The successful apprehension of Fletcher serves as a testament to the dedication and vigilance of officers involved in the operation.
