EASLEY, S.C. (HERE News) – The Easley YMCA unveiled its new multipurpose room in honor of a fallen local hero. Officer Matthew Hare was killed in the line of duty on August 2, 2023, while trying to save a woman threatening self-harm off railroad tracks. Officer Hare had been involved in YMCA after-school and summer camp programs for over nine years in his youth.
With a deep sense of respect and gratitude, the Easley YMCA dedicated the multipurpose room to Officer Matthew Hare, a brave soul who selflessly served the community until his last moments.
Officer Hare’s legacy of service and dedication has left a lasting impact on the Easley community. The multipurpose room serves as a testament to his commitment to helping others and building a stronger, more connected community.
