Easley, South Carolina – The Easley YMCA recently unveiled a new multipurpose room dedicated to a local hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The room is named in honor of Officer Matthew Hare, who tragically lost his life while trying to save a woman from self-harm on railroad tracks on August 2, 2023.
Officer Matthew Hare was a beloved member of the Easley community, known for his dedication and selflessness. His involvement in YMCA after-school and summer camp programs for over nine years left a lasting impact on the lives of many children and individuals.
The decision to dedicate the new multipurpose room to Officer Matthew Hare was met with overwhelming support and gratitude from the community. Sid Collins, CEO of the Easley YMCA, expressed his pride in the project and its significance.
