Anderson, SC – A popular doughnut shop from Greenville will be expanding its operations to downtown Anderson this April. Scout’s Doughnuts, located on East North Street, will be opening a second location inside Run-In’s new Anderson storefront at 120 E. Earle St.
The owners of Scout’s Doughnuts, Ryland Rainsford and his wife JP, have had a previous partnership with Run-In, a running apparel store owned by Dane Simmons. The couple would create custom doughnuts for Run-In events, and over time, they developed a strong friendship and business connection.
When Run-In had the opportunity to open a new location in Anderson, they approached Scout’s Doughnuts about the idea of opening a counter inside the store. Both parties saw it as a unique and exciting opportunity to combine their two passions – doughnuts and running. Rainsford, who took up running for exercise when he moved to Greenville, sees the partnership as a way to promote personal balance and overall wellness.
Dane Simmons, the owner of Run-In, expressed his admiration for the Rainsfords and their doughnut business. He saw the collaboration as a way to bring the concepts of running and enjoying a treat together, and even jokingly mentioned that this may be the only running store in the country with a doughnut shop inside.
The new location in Anderson will offer a slightly abbreviated menu compared to the flagship location in Greenville. Customers can expect about six to eight doughnut options to start, with the possibility of expanding the selection in the future.
The Anderson storefront of Run-In is open Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Scout’s Doughnuts in Anderson is set to open on April 13.
In addition to serving delicious doughnuts, Scout’s will also contribute to the aesthetic of the new location. The shop has painted several running shoes in its signature pink color, and these shoes will be displayed on the wall behind the counter as an art installation.
The expansion of Scout’s Doughnuts to Anderson highlights the growth and development happening in the city’s downtown area. Anderson is prioritizing walkability and attracting unique businesses to add vibrancy to the community. The collaboration between Scout’s and Run-In represents a true partnership between two local businesses, both focused on promoting wellness and building strong connections within their communities.
As Scout’s Doughnuts prepares to open its second location, the owners are excited to bring their delicious treats to the Anderson community and continue to spread their message of personal balance and enjoyment. Running and doughnuts may seem like an unlikely combination, but the success of Scout’s Doughnuts in Greenville proves that it’s a winning recipe.
