Take Care: A New Dining Experience Coming to Greenville!

Hey there, food lovers of Greenville! If you’re on the lookout for an exciting new place to grab a bite, you’re in for a treat. Local chefs, Jen Anderson and Alex George, are gearing up to launch their fresh and vibrant concept called Take Care. This project is the result of their passions for great food and community, and it’s set to become a beloved spot right in the heart of the Village of West Greenville.

What’s Cooking?

Take Care originally kicked off back in February as a pop-up, and it’s gaining popularity every day! The duo plans to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 1237 Pendleton St. with some exciting plans for menu items that focus on fresh, local ingredients. Think of delicious homemade pastas and breads, bright vegetable dishes, and flavorful seafood. Today, it’s all about community and connection around food!

One shining star of their menu is the family meal, which is offered as a pay-what-you-can dish. This unique creation is more than just a meal; it’s an invitation for everyone to join in, sharing not only food but also stories and experiences. Anderson beautifully summed it up: “It touches your heart in a little soft spot.” How lovely is that?

A Taste of Nostalgia

Both Anderson and George are excited to strike a perfect balance between creativity and familiarity in their dishes. Picture this: a meal that has deep-rooted memories while also introducing new flavors and techniques. Diners might find themselves reminiscing about their grandma’s cooking as they indulge in dishes like homemade ravioli or a fresh Caesar salad, which has already become a crowd favorite at recent pop-ups.

During their pop-up events at Sum Bar, they showcase a rotating menu, and no two menus have been the same. Just recently, they delighted taste buds with a dish of seared scallops alongside curried farro and baked marinated sardines. Not to forget, the refreshing Caesar salad — always a staple but with their delicious twist!

Creating a Cozy Space

The restaurant promises to be a cozy haven for locals. The design plans include a mix of standalone tables and booth seating with a bar area, all aiming for that warm, inviting vibe you’d expect from your dining room. As Anderson pointed out, “It won’t be a place that feels overly precious; more this is our dining room, come sit, come stay.” That sounds like the type of relaxing atmosphere we all need!

Community First

Anderson and George are committed not just to providing good food but also to helping the community. They’re looking to partner with local organizations to tackle important issues like food insecurity and job training. This mission speaks volumes about their dedication to making a positive impact in Greenville. It’s about building a restaurant that brings people together, not just for a meal, but for a cause.

The Future Looks Bright

Though they enjoyed their time at Golden, Brown & Delicious, George and Anderson decided it was time to break free and create something fresh and meaningful. “I feel like my entire career I’ve fallen into the trap of ‘we’ll just wait until we can make it better,’ and that just never comes,” George said, illustrating their eagerness to do it right from the start.
