Celebrating 40 Years of Success: DEVITA Marks a Major Milestone in Greenville, SC

Greenville, SC – Exciting times are brewing at DEVITA, a name that has become synonymous with engineering excellence in the Southeast. This year marks a special occasion for the firm as it proudly commemorates its 40th anniversary. Founded in 1984 as a humble electrical engineering firm, DEVITA has swiftly evolved into a robust multi-disciplinary organization that now offers a wide range of services, including mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and specialty precast engineering solutions.

From Humble Beginnings to Nationwide Impact

Over the years, DEVITA has strategically expanded its presence with offices spread throughout the Carolinas and Virginia, namely in Greenville, SC, Petersburg, VA, Marietta, GA, and Charlotte, NC. This growth reflects not only the company’s commitment to engineering excellence but also its dedication to client satisfaction. Major milestones, such as the opening of the Washington Street office in 1996 and implementing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2008, showcase the company’s adaptability and ambition. In 2022, DEVITA celebrated another milestone by surpassing the 100-employee mark, a testament to their growing reputation as a quality employer.

A Family-Like Culture

What truly sets DEVITA apart is its family-like culture, a sentiment echoed by many employees over the years. Long-standing team members feel a deep-seated connection to the firm. Don White, a Principal and Project Manager, passionately reflects, “Over the 28 years I have been with DEVITA, we have matured together, and the firm has grown up to hold a special place in my heart.” This strong community spirit is part of what keeps employees motivated and engaged.

Opportunities for Growth

Another standout aspect of DEVITA’s operations is its commitment to employee growth and advancement. Patrick Milne, another Principal, shared his journey with the company, highlighting how DEVITA facilitated his career progression. “In 2003, I started with Frank DeVita as a Mechanical Designer. I told Frank I wanted to advance my career, and he gave me that opportunity to become a Project Manager,” he recalls. This ethos of nurturing individual talents has helped develop a workforce that is not only skilled but also loyal.

Looking to the Future

As DEVITA kicks off its next chapter, it’s clear that the firm is focused on continuing its mission of providing comprehensive engineering services that consistently exceed client expectations. There is an overarching aim to promote sustainable growth and development for both the organization and its dedicated employee-owners.

“We at DEVITA are excited about our future,” Steven R. Grzybowski, Principal in the Business Development MEPS Division expressed. “This commitment to growth starts with our people. We want to know what our team members aspire to achieve and support their journey every step of the way.”
