Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, is set to showcase an art exhibit titled “Citizen Diplomacy” at the James B Duke Library. The exhibit, opening on March 11 and running through March 29, will feature 35 pieces from the Rob Rowen/Clyde Hensley Collection, along with new works from artists in East Cuba.
The “Citizen Diplomacy” exhibit will highlight the creative works of artists such as Eddy Ochoa Guzman, Carlos Rene Aguilera Tamayo, Roel Caboverde, Jeho, Oscar Lasseria, Alfredo Rodriguez, Jose Julian Aguilera, Mildo, Eliades, and Pouyo. These artists bring a fresh and vibrant perspective to Cuban art, showcasing their unique talents and creative expressions.
Rob Rowen, owner of Nuance Gallery and curator of the collection, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting East Cuban painters and witnessing the evolution of their artworks. The exhibit aims to provide a platform for these talented artists to share their creativity and cultural perspectives with the community.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Furman University will host a guest speaker, Soldad Pagliuca from The Friendship Association, at the Burgiss Theater in the university’s Trone Student Center on March 11 at 5 p.m. Following Pagliuca’s presentation, attendees are invited to join the opening reception of the exhibit at the James B Duke Library.
