Clemson’s women’s tennis team made quite the splash at the event, bringing a mix of seasoned warriors and fresh talent to the court. The squad sported a dynamic lineup, *featuring nine newcomers* alongside a spirited group of six freshmen, all competing in their very first collegiate tournament! Coach Boomer Saia expressed that the experience was invaluable, setting the stage for growth and bonding as a team.

Among the shining stars, Candela Yecora snagged her very first collegiate singles win and her first victory as a Tiger, making waves by defeating Athina Pitta from Mississippi State with a resounding score of 6-1, 6-1! The excitement didn’t stop there, as Ria Bhakta, the No. 58 transfer from Michigan State, found her stride with an impressive result against Zoe Hammond from Kentucky, winning 6-1, 6-4.

In a thrilling debut, freshman Artemis Aslanisvili breezed past Ellie Eades (Kentucky) to secure her first win, wrapping up the match with a score of 6-2, 6-4. Meanwhile, Gaia Parravicini, another freshman on the scene, showcased her tenacity by rallying back to claim victory against Julie Bedard from Auburn with a nail-biter finishing score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Senior Sophia Hatton also got in on the action, securing her first win of the season against Kate Dmitrichenko from Texas Tech with a final count of 6-2, 7-6 (3).

The winning didn’t stop there! Junior Romana Cisovska recorded her first victory as a Tiger by defeating Jermin Sherif from Texas Tech, showcasing a commendable performance with a score of 7-5, 6-3. The next day, Aslanisvili kept the momentum going, facing off against Olympie Lancelot from South Carolina and emerging victorious once again with a close 7-6 (1), 6-0 match.

Cisovska followed suit, earning a well-deserved win over Sankavi Gownder from Wake Forest, finishing the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Yecora, with her dazzling form, continued her winning streak, showcasing a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory against Ginger Foster from Georgia Tech.

The doubles matches flipped the energy up a notch as Annabelle Davis paired with Yecora to defeat the duo of Kylie Bilchev and Taly Licht from Georgia Tech with a confident score of 6-2.

Sunday Showdown

On the final day of the tournament, Aslanisvili didn’t just maintain her winning streak; she *claimed the Flight Six singles championship*! She outshined her opponent, Hailey Murphy from Texas Tech, wrapping up the match with a score of 6-1, 6-1. Hatton also bounced back with resilience, winning against Aysegul Mert from Georgia by taking the next two sets (after losing the first) with scores of 6-3, 6-3.

Rounding out the day, Bhakta secured her win by triumphing over Alice Battesti from Auburn with a score of 6-2, 7-5.
