Welcome to the Waves: SEAsations Opens at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate!

Hey there, Greenville! We’re excited to share that the Children’s Museum of the Upstate has just launched a brand-new exhibit called SEAsations, and it’s a splash-tacular underwater adventure that’s sure to delight kids of all ages! Located on the museum’s first floor, this stunning exhibit covers about 600 square feet and brings the beauty of the ocean right to our community in a way that everyone can enjoy.

Exploring the Underwater World

SEAsations is designed to engage every sense with its vibrant colors, mesmerizing lights, soothing sounds, interesting textures, and delightful smells. It truly immerses children into the feel of being underwater, making it not just an exhibit, but an unforgettable experience that they can explore as they learn.

No detail has been overlooked in this underwater wonderland! Kids will get to wander through various interactive stations designed to educate and entertain. Whether it’s learning about the delicate ecosystems of coral reefs or the importance of marine biology, each station offers hands-on opportunities that ensure learning is fun and engaging.

Join the Undersea Celebration!

To kick off this exciting new exhibit, the museum is hosting a special launch event on October 19 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. This sea-themed celebration is packed with activities that promise to make waves of fun for everyone!

At the event, families can get up close with some awesome mascots representing lobsters, sharks, and even sea turtles! These friendly characters will be there to take photos and bring smiles to little faces. Plus, there will be interactive stations to explore, including a Biodiversity Station, a Coral Nursery Station, and even a Sea Turtle Hospital.

One of the most thrilling parts of the day will be the 360° virtual reality coral reef dive—a chance to experience underwater adventures without even getting wet! Children can dive into the depths of a colorful coral reef and learn about the marine life that thrives there, all while enjoying a fun and safe environment.

Activities for Everyone

The event is designed for everyone, including younger kids who can take part in the TCMU Tots program with an aquarium theme. Families can come together to play games like Sharks & Minnows, paint seashells, and join in on submarine science demonstrations. And who can forget story time with Leo and the Octopus?

As a special bonus, a face painter will also be on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., ready to transform little ones into their favorite sea creatures! What better way to get into the spirit of the ocean than with some creative face art?
