Carl Sobocinski Honored as Greenville Drive’s 18th Annual Green Day Honoree

Introduction

The Greenville Drive, a celebrated High-A baseball affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, has chosen Carl Sobocinski as the honoree for its 18th annual Green Day tribute, it was announced on August 13, 2024. The selection recognizes his exceptional contributions to the business and philanthropic fabric of South Carolina.

Sobocinski’s Contribution to Greenville

Sobocinski, founder and owner of the award-winning Table 301 Restaurant Group, is the heart and soul behind various culinary establishments that have added to Greenville’s reputation as a thriving and diverse restaurant scene. His commitment to the city extends beyond his business engagements; Sobocinski is a significant contributor to South Carolina’s business and charitable community. He is a member of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association’s Executive Committee, the Furman University President’s Advisory Council, and Mentor Greenville. His national resume includes three terms as a board member for the National Restaurant Association.

In a partnership with Greenville native singer-songwriter Edwin McCain, Sobocinski co-founded and established the nationally recognized euphoria festival. The festival, a fusion of food, wine, and music, draws thousands of attendees to Greenville every year.

The Greenville Drive’s annual Green Day celebration shines the spotlight on individuals whose significant contributions enhance the overall quality of life in the community. Craig Brown, owner and chairman of Greenville Drive, expressed his admiration for Sobocinski’s work stating, “Carl cares about the details, about his staff, about his patrons, and about this entire community. This is what makes a great leader; it’s what makes a great community; and it’s why we want to celebrate Carl as this year’s Green Day honoree and spotlight the impact Carl has had and continues to have on so many throughout Greenville and the entire Upstate.”

The Legacy of Green Day

In line with the tradition set by previous years, Green Day on August 20th will also be a celebration of Greenville’s birthday. The Drive players will don special green uniforms and caps, and fans are encouraged to join in by also wearing green. In addition to the game against the Rome Emperors, the day will be marked with various exciting activities and culminate with a fireworks show, turning the evening into a grand celebration of the city’s birthday.

Sobocinski’s recognition will be a highlight of the day, marking the latest chapter of the continuing legacy of Green Day and its tribute to the people who shape Greenville and the Upstate.
