Children’s book from Greenville Man Bravely Confronts the Fearsome ‘C’ Word

Commencing with a Heart-Rending Account

In a heroic endeavor to honor his mother, a man from Greenville has published a poignant children’s book pertinent to the painful scenario of losing a parent due to the fatal disease, cancer. The truth-telling narrative, fittingly titled “The Big Scary ‘C’ Word” was launched on the 24th of July, 2024, featuring the trials of a young character striving to stay confident and courageous as his mother battles with the overwhelming illness.

A Personal Journey Transfigured into an Inspiring Tale

Drew Stamm, the author, a respected member at the NAI Earle Furman along with the talented Upstate artist Gray Taylor, who thrilled the book with scintillating illustrations, together transformed this painful narrative into a children’s book. The story unfolds in remembrance of Drew’s mother, Lisa Jo Stamm, who sadly succumbed to lung cancer in 2021. Lisa Jo was known to be an inspirational figure who crafted her impact everywhere through her passion for creative arts.

A Message of Resilience

The story commences with an emotional setting where Drew writes, “Embark on a heartwarming journey through a difficult topic with courage and resilience in The Big Scary ‘C’ Word. Our main character, Jo, navigates the challenges of losing his parent to cancer and discovers that even in the darkest nights, love and light shine through.”

A Purposeful Venture

Stamm has pledged to donate all the proceeds collected from the sale of the book to local communities and families suffering from pursuit of cancer-related toiletries. The book aims at helping young readers develop a secure understanding of the challenging circumstances confronting cancer patients.

Where to find ‘The Big Scary ‘C’ Word’

The book, presented by Charleston-based Palmetto Publishing, is now available for purchase on online platforms such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble. By dedicating this book to his mother’s memory, Stamm emphasizes the inevitable courage, love, and resilience necessary to confront the dire challenges of cancer, bringing much needed brightness through somber times.
