Greenville has much to celebrate this October as the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center marks its 10th anniversary! Since opening its doors on October 20, 2014, the center has been dedicated to providing top-notch cancer care guided by the ethos of faith, hope, and expertise. This community beacon of strength has transformed the lives of countless patients battling cancer, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
The recent anniversary celebration on October 21 showcased not only the center’s achievements over the past decade but also brought attention to its future aspirations. Lead by Administrative Director, Andrew Honeychuck, the focus remains firmly on patient care. He stated, “We will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible, all while keeping the needs of our patients at the forefront of everything we do.”
Located at 104 Innovation Drive, the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center offers outpatient treatment for various conditions, including solid tumors, blood cancers, and other blood disorders. The multi-disciplinary approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care from diagnosis to treatment, all in one convenient location.
At Bon Secours, patients are not just a number. The center prides itself on providing a myriad of services including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. One of the standout features of the center is its robust program for clinical trials. With approximately $2 million in annual research funding and around 90 active clinical trials, it offers patients access to cutting-edge treatments that are often on the forefront of cancer research.
Honeychuck expressed the center’s commitment to innovation, saying, “Our involvement in clinical research has allowed us to offer patients access to the latest treatment options. These innovations are at the core of what we do – giving our patients the best possible chance at a successful outcome.”
Recognizing that a cancer diagnosis impacts not only the patient but also their loved ones, the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center offers support that goes beyond traditional medical care. Services such as nutritional counseling, psychological support, and pastoral care create a holistic environment that nurtures both body and spirit. Additional educational workshops and support programs further empower patients and their families through the journey of cancer treatment.
Looking ahead, the center is excited about its plans to enhance cancer care even further. A new surgical suite is set to be developed within the existing facility, covering around 2,400 square feet. This $1.5 million project aims to renovate office space into a fully equipped surgical suite where surgical oncologists will conduct consultations and minor procedures, enhancing the comprehensive care model provided at Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center.
The projected opening for the new surgical suite is slated for summer 2025. Honeychuck commented, “We are proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past decade, and we remain committed to advancing cancer care for years to come.”
As the community reflects on the past ten years of the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center, there is a palpable sense of hope and gratitude. If you or a loved one needs cancer care, consider the possibilities that lie within this dedicated facility. With a focus on compassionate care, groundbreaking treatment options, and a supportive community, the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center is determined to be by your side every step of the way in the fight against cancer.
