Breeze Airways Spins Up New GSP Destinations, Targets Underserved Cities

Greenville, SC – Breeze Airways, the innovative airline founded by David Neeleman, has recently launched nonstop service to five destinations from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). This expansion aims to connect underserved cities and meet the growing demand for air travel in the Southeast.

Filling the Gaps in Regional Air Service

Regional air travel has seen a significant decline over the past decade, with more than 120 smaller cities losing 25% of their air service. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated this decline, leaving many communities without convenient air travel options. Breeze Airways saw an opportunity to fill these gaps and provide reliable and affordable air travel to underserved cities.

Meeting the Needs of Travelers

Breeze Airways aims to get travelers to their destinations “twice as fast at half the cost.” One of the airline’s major focus segments is VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives) travelers, who often need to travel back to their hometowns to visit loved ones. With nonstop flights from GSP to destinations like Providence, Rhode Island, and Hartford, Connecticut, Breeze Airways helps keep people connected with their friends and family.

In addition to VFR travelers, Breeze Airways also serves the leisure travel segment, offering flights to popular destinations like Los Angeles and Orlando. The airline’s strategy of meeting the needs of these key segments has contributed to its success and profitability.

Expanding the Fleet and Services

Breeze Airways currently operates a fleet of about two dozen Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with dozens more on order. These newer and more efficient jets allow the airline to offer affordable fares while maintaining a high level of comfort for passengers. The airline plans to take delivery of another 25 Airbus A220s in the next 18 months, and it envisions further expanding its services from GSP as long as the demand remains strong.

David Neeleman, the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with GSP and the Upstate community. He emphasized that the airline is committed to adding more service to GSP as long as the local support continues.

Connecting Underserved Cities

Breeze Airways’ expansion to GSP is part of the airline’s overall mission to connect underserved cities and provide affordable and convenient air travel options. By filling the gaps left by other airlines, Breeze Airways aims to improve connectivity and contribute to the economic growth of these communities.

The nonstop service from GSP to Providence/Boston, Tampa, Los Angeles, Hartford, and Orlando has been well-received by travelers, with high demand for flights to these destinations. Breeze Airways’ presence at GSP has already created new opportunities for leisure and business travelers to explore new cities and connect with friends and family.

The Future of Breeze Airways

Breeze Airways has rapidly expanded its services since its inaugural flights in 2021. The airline now serves 56 cities in 37 states, offering convenient and affordable air travel options to millions of passengers. With its customer-centric approach and commitment to providing high-quality service, Breeze Airways is well-positioned for continued growth and success in the increasingly competitive airline industry.
