Greenville Center for Creative Arts has recently announced its selection of the 2024-25 Brandon Fellows, showcasing three emerging artists in the vibrant visual arts scene of Greenville.
The Brandon Fellowship is a prestigious 12-month program aimed at nurturing young artists between the ages of 21 and 30. The program aims to represent the diversity of Greenville’s visual arts community by providing selected artists with valuable resources and opportunities to develop their craft.
Alexander Rouse, an alumnus of Bob Jones University, specializes in graphic design and watercolor. His work focuses on themes of conflict, intergenerational trauma, and identity, drawing inspiration from nature and his Southern cultural heritage.
Joel Houston, a graduate of Converse University, is a painter with a passion for Black nationalism and Afro-surrealism. His work is influenced by anime characters and music genres like hip-hop and soul.
Bella Bishara, a graduate of the S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, is a mixed-media painter known for incorporating crocheted objects into her acrylic paintings. Her pieces explore spirituality, mental health, and personal experiences.
As the 2024-25 Brandon Fellows, Rouse, Houston, and Bishara express their enthusiasm for the opportunity to grow professionally and personally. They look forward to engaging with the local art community, developing their artistic voices, and making meaningful contributions to Greenville’s art scene.
With the announcement of the 2024-25 Brandon Fellows, Greenville Center for Creative Arts continues its legacy of supporting and showcasing talented emerging artists, contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of Greenville.
