This much-awaited event isn’t just significant for its impressive collection of books. Organized by the Greenville Literacy Association (GLA), it serves as a significant step towards combating poverty in the community through improving adult literacy.
The two-day book sale is free for all attendees and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 10, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 11. The event boasts not just a vast and diverse catalogue of books, but it is also an opportunity to join forces in a noble cause.
To kick things off, a special dinner party will be held on August 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission for this event can be purchased online. It is a wonderful opportunity to mingle with like-minded individuals, while supporting a cause that impacts the community.
The proceeds from the book sale and kick-off party will go towards supporting the GLA’s mission to offer accessible and effective adult education services in Greenville County. Catering to people from all walks of life, these services include GED preparation and English as Second Language (ESL) programs. Through these offerings, the association hopes to empower individuals, promote inclusivity, and reduce the implications of adult illiteracy in the community.
Every book you buy or amount you donate becomes a brick in the strong foundation of literacy the GLA is building for the adults in Greenville County.
