Body found near home of man who went missing in May, deputies say

The Pickens Co. Sheriff’s Office said Saturday they responded to a report about human remains in the 100 Block of Shivers Lane at around 10:03 am. Deputies said the body–which appeared to be that of an adult male–was found close to where Justin Scott Gasper went missing earlier this year.

According to deputies, individuals operating land grading equipment noticed the human remains in a heavily wooded area on Shivers Lane and reported them to law enforcement. Deputies said they found the body in the location described and the incident is still under investigation by the Pickens Co. Sheriff’s Office, but also said no signs of foul play have been reported yet.

Deputies said that once an identification is made, the information will be provided to the Pickens Co. Coroner’s Office.
