The renovated Autokiniton manufacturing plant enhances production capacity.
Fountain Inn witnesses a significant upgrade with the completion of Autokiniton’s manufacturing plant renovations. This expansion adds 40,000 square feet of storage and enhances production efficiency, particularly for BMW. Safety and logistics improvements, along with community support, mark a strong future for local manufacturing.
In a thrilling development for Fountain Inn, the expansion and renovation of the Autokiniton manufacturing plant have officially wrapped up. This remarkable transformation, completed by Trehel on behalf of STAG Industrial, promises to enhance the local manufacturing landscape, especially as it plays a vital role in fueling the BMW manufacturing plant in Spartanburg. Let’s dive into the exciting details of this project!
The Autokiniton facility has long been known as the primary supplier of floor pans for BMW, churning out an impressive approximately 2,100 floor pans every single day. Now, with the completion of recent renovations, this facility is set to boost its operations even further. The renovation project is nothing short of extensive, adding a whopping 40,000 square feet of new storage space to streamline production activities!
One of the most exciting additions to the plant is the new storage area, which boasts precast exterior panels and a robust structural steel framework. These features not only add to the aesthetic appeal of the facility but also ensure durability and safety. Additionally, a dedicated 14,000 square foot tool and die storage area has been instituted as part of the renovations to better accommodate the manufacturing needs.
In the competitive world of manufacturing, efficiency is king, which is why the expansion included heavy-duty paving to extend the trailer parking lot. This enhancement allows for seamless just-in-time deliveries, ensuring that materials arrive right on schedule. Safety has not been overlooked, as the revamped facility now features an Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) Sprinkler system for added protection against potential fire hazards.
The new die storage area is also equipped with secondary steel, designed to extend runways for two massive 30-metric-ton bridge cranes. With these enhancements, the die storage area comes complete with a standard sprinkler system, air conditioning, and electrical services tailored for manufacturing. Plus, both the die storage and warehouse sections provide compressed air distributions for streamlined operations.
The success of this ambitious project could not have been achieved without the support and collaboration of various local partners. Names like KEEL Concepts, Arrowood + Arrowood, Bluewater Civil Design, Waldrop Heating and Air, and Walker & Whiteside Electrical Contractors played a pivotal role in bringing the vision for the Autokiniton facility to life.
With these significant upgrades, the Autokiniton manufacturing plant is set to bolster the Upstate automotive industry’s overall competency. As one of the backbone suppliers for BMW, this facility not only supports local jobs but also contributes significantly to the economic landscape of the region.
Trehel, a privately held construction company rooted in Oconee County and Clemson, has been serving the Greenville community for around 25 years now. Their commitment to quality and sustainable growth exemplifies the spirit of local businesses striving to make a difference.
The completion of the Autokiniton expansion project marks just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new chapter for Fountain Inn and the Upstate automotive sector. As production ramps up and new jobs become available, the future looks bright for this community and its thriving manufacturing landscape!
