Endless family-friendly activities in the Upstate

Finding engaging activities for children of all ages can be a challenge in the busy days of summer. With August on the horizon, Greenville, Spartanburg, and the Upstate region are bursting with family-friendly events from interactive exhibitions to exciting outdoor activities.

Ongoing events and exhibits

“Finding the Force…Awakening the Empire,” a Star Wars exhibition, is open at the Upcountry History Museum through November 3. The exhibition provides a behind-the-scenes glance into the world of Star Wars, highlighting the magnificent costuming, characters, creative minds, and the enduring saga that has captivated fans for over 45 years. Parallelly, the museum is also hosting the “Curious George: Let’s Get Curious!” exhibition. A bilingual, interactive learning exhibit designed specifically for children aged 2 – 8 and their caregivers.

Day-specific events

Planet lovers can sign up for the Paris Mountain State Park’s Adult Volunteer Orientation on August 21. The orientation is for adults passionate about sharing their enthusiasm for the natural world with young school children. Panthe’s Fan Fest at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is scheduled for August 1, giving budding footballers a chance to watch their heroes in action.

Apart from these, the city is hosting several other events like the Greenville Drive plays at Fluor Field, laser music shows at the Roper Mountain Science Center, Creek Ranger Hike at Paris Mountain State Park and many more.

Unique celebrations

For an amusing time for the whole family, LaZoom’s Kids’ Comedy Tour hosts educational and entertaining tours of Asheville accented with ridiculous comedy skits. In a more musical mood? The Cirque du Soleil’s “Corteo” is all set to awe the audience at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte.
