Art & Light Gallery to Host ‘The Language of Swifts’ Exhibit in Greenville

Discover the Beauty of Chimney Swifts in a Unique Art Exhibition

Art & Light Gallery in Greenville is set to host a captivating art exhibit titled ‘The Language of Swifts.’ The exhibition, featuring the exquisite works of painter Diane Kilgore Condon, will be a visual treat for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Exploring the Theme

For ‘The Language of Swifts’ showcase, Kilgore Condon draws inspiration from the dynamic community of West Village and the poignant changes it undergoes. The central motif in her pieces is the chimney swifts, delicate birds reminiscent of swallows, adding depth and emotion to her creations. These swifts have a significant presence in West Greenville, with a colony of around 75-100 birds gracefully swirling around a 140-year-old oak tree in the heart of the village. However, impending developments threaten the habitat of these swifts, as the tree faces removal to make way for new apartments. Kilgore Condon expresses her hope that the swifts will find refuge in the remaining trees within the neighborhood.

Immerse Yourself in Art and Nature

The ‘Language of Swifts’ exhibition will be accessible both virtually on the gallery’s website and in person at the Art & Light Gallery located at 16 Aiken St. in Greenville. This unique blend of art and nature promises a thought-provoking experience for all visitors.

Art & Light Gallery will kick off the exhibition with a First Friday reception on June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery. This event is a perfect opportunity to engage with the artist, fellow art enthusiasts, and immerse yourself in the world of ‘The Language of Swifts.’
