Magical Moments Await in Greenville with “Anastasia”
Greenville, get ready for a dose of nostalgia! Starting December 5, the enchanting musical “Anastasia” will take the stage at the Greenville Theatre, and it promises to transport audiences on a magical journey!
A Dream Come True for Adell Ehrhorn
Taking on the iconic role of Anastasia Romanov is none other than local talent Adell Ehrhorn. She recalls her childhood love for the 1997 Fox Animation film with fondness. “This movie was one that as a little girl, my sisters and I would watch it and just wish that we could be in those glittering gowns and be a part of it,” Ehrhorn shares with a twinkle in her eye. Now, as she prepares to step into Anastasia’s shoes, she feels like her dreams are finally coming to life. “I would close my eyes and just pretend. It’s literally a dream come true.”
Ehrhorn isn’t just the star of the show; she’s contributing behind the scenes as well by helping create the exquisite costumes featuring intricate hand beading that will dazzle the audience. “I worked in the costume shop here at Greenville Theatre for five years, and I’ve come back just for this opportunity,” she enthuses.
A Full- Circle Moment
Life truly has a way of bringing things full circle! Ehrhorn reminisces about the day she saw “Anastasia” on Broadway, where she had the chance to meet the original cast member Christy Altomare. Just as luck would have it, Altomare will be presenting a concert at the Greenville Theatre on December 17, which brings even more excitement for Ehrhorn.
A Grand Stage Awaits
According to Max Quinlan, the Producing Artistic Director for the Greenville Theatre, they’ve put in tremendous effort to create a grand production that mirrors the emotions within the story. “This is probably one of the tallest sets that we’ve ever had. It’s crucial to elevate the audience’s experience,” he explains. The show is about exploring one’s past and embracing the future, which is particularly empowering and a valuable lesson for all ages.
Community-Driven Theater
The charm of the Greenville Theatre extends beyond just the talented cast—it’s also about local community involvement. “Every time we produce a show, we are thinking about our community first,” Quinlan emphasizes. It’s this focus that allows them to create Broadway-caliber performances right in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina.
Nostalgia at Its Best
A performance of “Anastasia” is sure to resonate, not only with children but also with adults who grew up with this beloved story. “When those first notes of ‘Journey to the Past’ start playing, people my age will feel like kids again. It’s very nostalgic,” Ehrhorn asserts, sharing her excitement for the impact the show will have on its audience.
