Exciting New Food Truck Brings Affordable Korean Cuisine to Greenville

Welcome to Greenville, where the food scene just got a little more flavorful! Meet the new arrivals in town, Kups, a trendy food truck offering delicious, affordable Korean cuisine that’s sure to tantalize your taste buds. The brainchild of two friends, Daniel Kim and Robin Byun, Kups is permanently parked at 1500 Wade Hampton Blvd., right next to Bridge City Coffee. If you’re craving some mouthwatering Korean dishes, this is the place to be.

A Heartwarming Story of Friendship and Food

The journey of Kups is not just about food; it’s a lovely story of friendship. Daniel and Robin’s bond began with a simple DoorDash order. One fateful night, Daniel’s late-night craving for Wendy’s hit a snag when the restaurant was closed. Robin, who was his DoorDasher, reached out with the news and curiosity got the best of him. “I saw the name and I said ‘Kim,’ that sounds Korean,” Robin recalled with a smile. The two quickly connected over their shared heritage, and their dream of bringing Korean comfort food to Greenville was born.

Savor the Signature Bowls

Now, let’s talk about the star of the menu: their rice bowls! Kups prides itself on serving traditional Korean street food with a modern twist. The most popular dish so far? The Phoenix Kup—a delightful mix of spicy marinated chicken, rice, corn, dried seaweed, and salad greens, all for just $9.99! They also offer options like the Oink Kup with spicy fried marinated pork, the Tuyo Kup featuring tuna, and the Vege Kup with tofu for the plant-based eaters out there.

And let’s not forget about the fun side items! Check out their Colpop Kup, a snack-sized cup filled with crispy chicken bites served with a refreshing soda—perfect for those on-the-go cravings!

Affordable Eats with Big Taste

What sets Kups apart is their commitment to affordability. Growing up, Robin often felt the pinch of high prices at local Asian restaurants, especially as a student. He knew first-hand that good food doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag, and that inspired their pricing strategy. While the Bulgogi Kup is available for $12.99, everything else is priced under $9.99, making it easy for anyone to indulge.

Focus on Fresh Ingredients

Every item on the menu is crafted with care. Daniel and Robin take pride in sourcing ingredients and making all their sauces, marinades, and even kimchi from scratch in their preparation kitchen. They also draw from the wisdom of their church community, acquiring recipes crafted by the beloved “Korean grandmas” they know. “We wanted to keep the authenticity while making it accessible,” Robin explained.

Big Plans for the Future

The duo hopes to turn Kups into a franchise, with plans for a sit-down restaurant in the future. They envision a warm, welcoming space that serves up delicious Korean comfort food. In addition to their established menu, they aim to introduce meal services and catering for local businesses. “We want to keep it original and to have a story,” Robin added, emphasizing their commitment to providing quality dishes that resonate with their heritage.
