Greenville, S.C. – Tragic Accident Claims Teen Life

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded on Tuesday morning in Greenville, South Carolina, when a car crash resulted in the death of a teenager and left another in serious condition. The two high school students were en route to pick up their 4-month-old baby from day care when the accident occurred.

Details of the Crash

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victims, identified as 17-year-old Abbigail “Grace” Callaham and her boyfriend, Thomas Kennedy, were students at Belton-Honea Path High School. They had just departed from the school when a large bird unexpectedly flew in front of their vehicle on Clamp Drive.

Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the driver, Kennedy, swerved to avoid hitting the bird, which led him to lose control of the car. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, forcing an immediate response from emergency services.

Casualties and Hospitalization

Sadly, Callaham was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her boyfriend, Kennedy, who was driving the car, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The couple, both young parents, were just starting their family journey. As a junior, Callaham had her entire life ahead of her, and Kennedy, a senior, was looking towards graduation just months away. Their families and friends are now grappling with the unfathomable loss due to this unfortunate event.
