Greenville is buzzing with excitement as local entrepreneurs Anmar Natheer and Geno Iozzino prepare to unveil their brand-new venture, a high-end seafood restaurant called The Dutchman. Situated in the heart of downtown at the former Reid’s Fine Foods location, this upcoming addition promises to bring a fresh and vibrant twist to the culinary scene in the area.
A Dream Realized
Sometimes, opportunities knock at your door when you least expect them, and for Natheer and Iozzino, that moment came when they saw the available space where Reid’s once thrived. “We just felt the time was right,” Iozzino shared with a wave of enthusiasm. This new venture aligns perfectly with their passion for seafood and fishing, as they often embark on offshore fishing trips to gather inspiration for their dishes.
The duo has already made a name for themselves in the local dining scene, having successfully opened three other restaurants in the area known for their unique names derived from Greenville’s zip codes: The 05, The 07, and The One5. However, as Iozzino explained, The Dutchman breaks away from that tradition, reflecting a completely different concept and dining experience.
A Space Designed for Seafood Lovers
Stretching across 4500 square feet, The Dutchman is designed for those who appreciate high-quality seafood. It will feature a full bar that seats 17 guests, a raw bar, and a main dining area that can accommodate up to 115 patrons. A spacious patio will also be available for diners who want to enjoy their meals outside. “The kitchen will be a generous size,” Iozzino said, hinting at the exciting array of dishes soon to be created.
The menu is expected to be nothing short of spectacular, focusing on a variety of fresh seafood options. Think shrimp, lobster, clams, crabs, and oysters—all served in styles that truly celebrate the ocean’s treasures. “We’re aiming to introduce Greenville to consistently good and fresh seafood,” Iozzino said. And for those who might not be as enamored with the ocean’s delights, there will be two cuts of steak and other dishes to ensure everyone leaves satisfied.
More Than Just Food
But that’s not all! The Dutchman will also serve carefully crafted cocktails. “We’re excited to bring over one of our talented head bartenders from The 07 to help shape our cocktail menu,” he added. Patrons can look forward to a whole menu of delicious drinks that pair perfectly with their seafood selections.
The lookout for the perfect atmosphere is in lively hands, as Natheer and Iozzino are collaborating with local designer Kelly Ford. “She’s focusing on dark blues, rich browns, and wood elements,” Iozzino explained, creating a space that mimics the feel of the ocean. The décor will include charming maritime touches that pay homage to the restaurant’s namesake, with ship-themed wallpaper adorning the private dining area.
Aiming for a February Opening
As preparations gear up, Natheer and Iozzino are now on the hunt for a chef who shares their vision for The Dutchman. They want someone who will have a voice in choosing suppliers, ensuring that the seafood is fresh and top-notch when the restaurant opens its doors. Currently, they’re aiming for a grand opening on February 2, although Iozzino chuckled about the unpredictability of the restaurant world, acknowledging that delays can happen.
“It’s been a dream of ours for a long time,” he reflected. “We just couldn’t find the right space until now, and we couldn’t be more excited to see The Dutchman become a reality.”
