Greenville’s Culinary Scene Thrives with New Openings and Community Support

Culinary Delights Unveiled

Greenville’s Culinary Scene Buzzes with Activity

Hey there, Greenville residents! If you’ve been keeping your ear to the ground (or your eyes on social media), you probably know that our local food scene is as lively as ever. There are some exciting developments that you won’t want to miss, especially for those who love discovering new eateries and supporting our community favorites.

Runway Café’s Heartfelt Petition

The Runway Café, a beloved restaurant located right by the Greenville Downtown Airport, is making headlines lately. Opening its doors back in 2010, this café has become a cherished spot for both locals and travelers alike, and it’s gearing up to celebrate its 15th anniversary in May 2025. But there’s a little cloud of uncertainty hanging over it. The café posted a petition on September 8 to gather signatures from loyal customers who want to see the restaurant continue its run.

Owner Lem Winesett shared that it wasn’t even their idea to launch the petition! Their customers were the ones pushing for it, expressing their desire to lend their voices to the cause. As of September 12, the petition had garnered a whopping 600 signatures! Although Lem was initially hesitant to rock the boat and wanted to avoid any sour feelings, he has been overwhelmed by the community’s support.

“It is truly wonderful how they always get behind us on whatever we do,” Lem expressed. The deadline for the proposal submission tied to their lease is September 30, and Lem confirms they plan to include the petition with their proposal to the Airport commission as a testament to their community backing.

Industry Night Gets a Time Change at Swordfish

Swordfish Cocktail Club has announced a change in its hours for Industry Night. This popular event, which has turned Tuesdays into a hot spot for those in the hospitality business, now runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The kitchen will stop cooking at midnight, perfect for those late-night cravings. Located at 220 E. Coffee St., the club has even offered a “secret” menu for industry workers and healthcare heroes. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit!

New Beginnings with Tavola

Now, let’s talk about exciting new openings! Table 301 is set to expand its family of restaurants with its first concept outside of downtown Greenville. The highly anticipated Tavola, an Italian-inspired eatery, will bring a taste of Italy to BridgeWay Station. While no exact date has been set just yet, we expect to hear more after this year’s euphoria slated for September 19-22. Stay tuned for more delicious details!

Bittersweet Farewell to Bleu Porch

In a bit of sad news, The Bleu Porch Kitchen, Market & Catering in Greer announced via social media on September 10 that it will be closing its doors on September 12 and 13. The post mentioned “circumstances beyond my control” as the reason for this unexpected closure. If you were a fan, you’ll want to stop by one last time at 302 N. Main St. to say goodbye. We’ll be keeping an eye out for what might take its place!

Weekend Brunch at Nic & Norman’s

And here’s something to be excited about! Nic & Norman’s, the restaurant from Walking Dead alumni Norman Reedus and Greg Nicotero, is now serving brunch! Swing by on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a taste of their delicious offerings. The restaurant, which opened its doors on August 6, is located at the former Smoke on the Water spot, 1 Augusta St. It’s definitely a great addition to our weekend dining options.

There you have it, Greenville! From heartfelt petitions to new openings and even a bittersweet farewell, our local culinary scene is buzzing with all sorts of action. If you haven’t yet explored these restaurants, now’s the time to dive in and support our amazing local businesses!
