Greenville County Schools Show Improvement in Test Scores
Greenville, SC – The latest test scores from Greenville County Schools (GCS) reveal that students have outperformed the state average in several areas during the 2023-24 school year. This data, released by the South Carolina Department of Education, highlights achievements in both elementary and middle school assessments.
Academic Achievements
According to the assessment results, GCS students excelled in the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessments (SC READY) for English language arts and math. The performance stood out particularly in middle and high schools, where the students surpassed state scores in all categories tested on the End-of-Course Examination Program. These examinations covered key subjects like Algebra 1, English 2, Biology, and U.S. History.
Career Readiness
GCS also showed strong results for 11th and 12th graders taking the South Carolina Career Ready Assessment, which is designed to evaluate essential job skills. About 76% of students assessed in the spring of 2024 received a credential, which is higher than the state average of 72.2%.
