New Principals Announced for Greenville County Schools 2024-25
Greenville, SC – As the new school year approaches, Greenville County Schools (GCS) has recently appointed several new principals who will lead various schools starting this fall. The first day of school will be on Thursday, August 8, and parents are reminded to ensure that their children are registered, especially kindergarten and first-grade students.
Meet the New Principals
Among the new leaders, Tim Scipio will take charge at West Greenville School. A Clemson University graduate, Scipio brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous roles, including his time as an assistant principal where he developed programs that helped students excel.
Stephanie Smith, who has impressive experience including a stint as athletic director, will be joining Fountain Inn High. She has been recognized for her community engagement initiatives and her background in education technology will be an asset to her new role.
At Bethel Elementary, Nurit’ Sexton will be stepping into the principal role after a successful teaching and administrative career. Notably, she was recognized as a Top 3 District Teacher of the Year in the past.
Dylan Hudson is moving from Seneca High to lead Greenville High Academy, where he is expected to bring innovative leadership to enhance educational outcomes as well as to support new teachers.
Additionally, Matthew Critell will lead the new elementary school at the former J.L. Mann site, while Edgar Henson will take the reins at Greenville Middle. Henson has significant experience in administrative roles and will focus on collaborative efforts with teachers.
Administrative Experience Tailored for Student Success
Foresting a nurturing environment, Kyle Pearson will be at the helm of Woodmont Middle, where he previously served as assistant principal. His extensive teaching background in social studies will aid him in effectively guiding students.
In the realm of early education, Jordan Hudson at East North Street Elementary and Dawn Hooker at Alexander Elementary both hold advanced degrees and a history of successful leadership roles that promise to advance their respective schools.
Other notable appointments include Jennifer Couch at Lakeview Middle, where her focus on improving student scores will continue, and Melissa Patterson, who has been recognized for achieving significant growth at Woodmont High.
Lastly, Amy Kern at Tigerville Elementary has a commendable track record, including leading her previous school to be named a National Blue Ribbon School. She will be pivotal in furthering education excellence in her new role.
