Greenville Co. man charged after 25 dogs found living in ‘deplorable’ conditions

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced that a man was recently taken into custody after deputies found 25 dogs living in “deplorable” conditions.

Investigation Unveiled Shocking Conditions

Deputies said they began investigating on April 1 when they received information about animals being mistreated by the suspect, 37-year-old Joevaughn Meredith, at a home along Lazydays Court.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies were confronted with a distressing scene. They discovered 25 dogs living in several crates that were covered in feces. Some of the dogs appeared malnourished, adding to the severity of the situation.

Suspect Charged

Following the disturbing discovery, Joevaughn Meredith was promptly charged with 25 counts of ill-treatment of animals. He was taken into custody in McDuffie County, Georgia, where he currently remains as he awaits extradition back to Greenville County.

Deputies confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. They are actively working to identify any additional suspects who may be involved in this case of animal cruelty.
