Greenville County’s Food Scene Continues to Evolve with New Openings and Closures
Introducing Hendrix Chicken & Waffles and HeyDay
Greenville County’s food scene is ever-changing, with new restaurants opening and others shutting their doors. One of the most exciting additions is Hendrix Chicken & Waffles, which recently had a soft opening in Greer. Owned by South Carolina Chef Ambassador Mike Sibert, this restaurant offers a unique twist on the classic chicken and waffles dish. The menu features 24-hour brined chicken served with Belgian-style waffles, as well as savory sides like caramelized duck fat onion collard greens. Hendrix Chicken & Waffles is set to officially open in the winter of 2024, and is sure to become a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
In addition to Hendrix Chicken & Waffles, the KO Restaurant Group is taking over the former Oak Hill Cafe location and transforming it into HeyDay. This specialty sandwich space will also have a bar and creative cuisine options in its kitchen. The owners of Hendough and KO Burger at Gather GVL are known for their delicious food, and HeyDay is expected to be no exception. The restaurant is currently undergoing renovations and is slated to open in May.
