Exciting News from Greenville: Local Students Shine in National Arts Competition!
Hey there, Greenville! Are you ready for some fantastic news? This year, a group of talented students from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities has been making waves. Seven students have been recognized as winners in the 2025 YoungArts National Arts Competition, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🌟
What is the YoungArts Competition?
For those who might not know, the YoungArts competition is a big deal in the world of arts! Every year, thousands of promising young artists from all over the United States submit their applications to showcase their talents across various categories, including classical music, dancing, designing, filmmaking, jazz, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing. This year, nearly 11,000 students aged 15 to 18 participated, which makes our local winners all the more impressive!

And let’s not forget about Castro Spratt! She didn’t just win any award—she received the YoungArts Award with Distinction, which is truly remarkable. As a special highlight, she has been invited to participate in the National YoungArts Week in Miami this coming January 2025. What an honor!
Moreover, there’s even more exciting news for Castro! She is eligible to be nominated to become a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. This nomination is one of the highest honors that can be given by the president of the United States, and we are all cheering for her!
